A hand-painted in-frame kitchen, larder and snug in Corfe Mullen

A kitchen, a snug and the bedroom wardrobes: three rooms in one Corfe Mullen house, with every cupboard and wardrobe in them made in our Poole workshop. The kitchen is hand-painted in-frame, pale grey round the walls, with a dark curved island at the centre, banded in brass.

What we made

Glazed cabinets break up the run of painted doors. Along one wall, the tall cupboards have a row of small turned spindles set into the top of each door, to let the air through.

Across the house, the snug is panelled in deep blue, with arched shelves either side of the wood-burning stove and cupboards beneath them. In the bedrooms, painted in-frame wardrobes carry long brass handles; in the main bedroom they stand beside a headboard wall of mirror and brass.

Back in the kitchen, one pair of tall doors opens on a larder lined in oak, with a wine rack, a row of small drawers and two deep drawers carved with the words ‘Cakes’ and ‘Bread’.
