An in-frame kitchen within sight of the sea in Canford Cliffs

By Thomas Matthew

From the sink in this Canford Cliffs kitchen you look out at trees; through the next window, the sea. We did the kitchen, a drinks cupboard, the bedroom wardrobes and the shower room as one job, so the brass, the paint and the detail carry from room to room.

What we made

The kitchen is painted in-frame in a soft greige, with finely ridged brass bar handles and a brass bridge tap over the ceramic sink. The island stands on a herringbone floor, and when you pull out a drawer, the box is solid timber.

There is a drinks cupboard too. Its folding doors open on lit, timber-lined shelves above a built-in wine fridge. In the three bedrooms, the wardrobes have painted panelled doors and long brass handles, and inside they are lined in timber, with hanging space, shelves and drawers. We drew the joinery, made it in our Poole workshop and fitted it ourselves.

The shower room is lined in green and copper-toned tiles, with lit wall niches and brass fittings that carry the kitchen’s warmth all the way through.
